How Much Does it Cost?

NZXT offers a really comprehensive range for their microphones now, with the NZXT Capsule Mini Mic – White coming in at just £58.61, or the NZXT Capsule Mini Mic – Black for the same £58.61. Not bad considering the NZXT Capsule (full size) is £99.98 for the white, and £87.86 for the black. The Boom Arm Mini is just £59.46, which is expensive for a little boom arm, but honestly, the quality is a cut above the trash you find on Amazon for half that, and the full-size Boom Arm is £95.10 (£79.98 at time of writing with a sale).

Overview

We loved the NZXT Capsule and the Boom Arm, but with prices tipped a little over £200 for the complete setup, it’s a little expensive for the budding enthusiast out there. It’s a worthy investment though, as the full-size boom offers great flexibility for those with larger gaming setups, big monitors and wide desks. Plus, the more expensive microphone isn’t just bigger, but has a more advanced microphone, and can record at 24-bit/96 kHz vs the 24-bit/48 kHz of the mini. However, unless you need higher resolution recording for whatever reason, the mini’s 48 kHz is more than enough for most.

With the mini, you’re getting a pretty sweet deal though, for starters, the overall price of the microphone is cheaper, giving it greater appeal to those who don’t want to invest £100+ on a single peripheral. Plus, the new Boom Mini is cheaper too, making the whole bundle much more accessible. The full-size one is great, but with so many other devices on my desk, and multiple monitors, I didn’t actually have room to accommodate it properly. The mini suits me really well as it can be tucked into the corner more easily when not in use.

I actually really like the design too, with it being smaller, it feels less dominating and distracting while I’m gaming. I can have it almost right in front of me without feeling like it’s blocking my view… because it’s not! It’s just so much simpler to use by being smaller. It’s easily adjusted, moved, and stored, and that’s a big win for me.

The recording quality is excellent. I thought I sounded like trash, but the family all agree… that’s just what I sound like, so who am I to argue! I love the plug-and-play nature of it all though, just a single Type-C cable and you’re ready to rock. If you want to do a more professional job, just plug some headphones into the microphone for latency-free high-quality monitoring.

Should I Buy One?

If you’re looking for a good-quality microphone and boom arm, look no further. While there are cheaper models on the market, they’re exactly that, cheaper. The NZXT Capsule Mini and Boom Mini are perfect examples of an entry-level approach to a premium gaming and audio experience. It’s a premium-quality microphone within the financial reach of a lot of gamers, and well worth checking out!
