A Closer Look
The microphone looks stunning, and the moment you take it out of the box and stand it on your desk, you know you’ve purchased a premium quality product. It’s pretty heavy, easily one of the heaviest I’ve tested so far, and that’s a good thing. It’s less susceptible to minor vibrations, knocks and bumps.
A lot of the weight is low down too, thanks to this chunky but smoothly styled metal weighted base.
It has a durable rubber grip on the base too, which stops it from sliding around but also prevents it from scratching up your desktop.
The stand is shaped so that all the bulk of it is either low down or at the rear, ensuring it always stays balanced regardless of the microphone angle.
There’s a nut on each side, which can be loosened so you can adjust the tilt.
OK, I went too far.
Find the right angle for your needs, and tighten the side nuts again.
Ta-da! It’ll stay where you left it.
There are two dials on the front, one for volume at the top. However, this one can also be clicked like a button to toggle the master mute control.
There are some decals on the dials, but they’re virtually invisible.
the bottom dial controls the volume for the built-in headphone jack, should you wish to monitor the levels directly from the microphone.
On the underside, there’s a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s a standard screw mount too, so you can use it with pretty much any traditional mounting hardware, stands, etc.
One thing that does confuse me is that black mesh, as the black version of the microphone is all black, so I would have thought the main body would have been all white on this version.
Make no mistake though, I do think it looks great, almost like it was crafted out of leftover Storm Troopers.
The microphone has a large amount of ventilation at the rear and the front, along with a large built-in pop filter.
There’s a quick-release button on the back of the mount.
That’ll let you easily remove it from the stand.
As for this big ugly hole…
That extra part that was in the box will plug that up nicely.
Now I can use my own stand using the screw mount. Albeit, this isn’t the ideal stand, but it’s just what I had to hand at the time.
