NZXT DOKO Remote Desktop Gaming Review

Price
The NZXT DOKO is currently available from the NZXT Armory for $99.99 in the US right now. It can also be pre-ordered in the UK from Scan.co.uk for £95.99, although I suspect that price may lower after the official UK launch on March 19th (2015). This isn’t cheap, but for the practical features that it offers, it’s a much cheaper solution than building a HTPC or other remote gaming setup.
Overview
The NZXT DOKO is a really cool little device, for those who’ve been looking for a way to take their gaming away from their desktop, it’s a very cost-effective solution. I could build a low-cost PC capable of doing much of the same jobs, but it still wouldn’t be anywhere near as affordable as this, it wouldn’t be completely silent, it would use more power and it wouldn’t be as plug and play friendly; which only makes the DOKO a more attractive package.
The 30Hz limit may be off-putting for some, but this isn’t meant to be the ultimate home streaming device. It’s plug and play ready, it supports USB OTG, it’s not too expensive, so it’s really meant to be a simple and practical solution more than anything and that’s what it delivers. I suspect NZXT already want to release an even better version in the future, no doubt dependent on the success of this model.
For me, the DOKO won’t be going under my TV, it’ll be going in the bedroom, as it means I can have the full power of my PC in a device that only takes up a tiny space on a shelf! When I want to kick back in bed with a wireless controller and play some Skyrim on a lazy Sunday morning, I can.
