NZXT Function 2 Optical MINITKL Gaming Keyboard Review

NZXT has been making waves in the peripherals market, with some truly epic sound from their latest speakers and headphones, some of the best microphones for gamers, and recently, they launched some heavily upgraded versions of their already fantastic gaming mice and keyboards, which originally launched two years ago. With their new optical-mechanical switches, and an 8000 Hz polling rate, this new keyboard has a wickedly fast 0.2 ms response time. However, the new switches aren’t just faster, they’re nicer to use thanks to their adjustable actuation point, significantly more durable than their counterparts from brands like Cherry and even come with a 100 million key press guarantee.

NZXT Function 2 Optical

This is a premium keyboard inside and out, with pre-lubricated switches, plate-mounted stabilisers, double shot PBT keycaps, dual layers of foam on the interior, as well as a tape-enhanced PCB to rescue unwanted acoustics and vibrations from the keyboard. It comes with hot-swappable switches, and even extra switches in the box with different actuation forces so you can customise it for different play styles.

Features

  • NZXT Swift Optical Switches have a linear, lightweight feel with a 0.2 ms response time, a 100-million key press guarantee, and 1 mm or 1.5 mm adjustable actuation.
  • 8,000 Hz polling rate transmits input signals 8x faster than most gaming keyboards, ensuring lightning-fast responsiveness.
  • Doubleshot PBT keycaps feature two layers of plastic to preserve legends and prevent fading over time.
  • Dual layers of sound-dampening foam and tape-enhanced PCB improve acoustics by absorbing unwanted pinging noises.
  • Pre-lubricated switches and plate-mounted stabilizers guarantee smooth, quiet keystrokes.
  • Easily swap switches with the keycap and switch puller tools, plus 4 x 35g and 4 x 45g switches for out-of-the-box experimentation.
  • The top frame plate is crafted from 3mm-thick aerospace-grade aluminium for long-lasting stability and a sleek appearance.
  • The left-hand side volume roller and other media controls enable quick and convenient in-game adjustments.
