NZXT Function Elite MINITKL Gaming Keyboard Review
There seems to be a trend in the market right now, and it’s something very simple… peripherals. A few years ago it seemed like we had more keyboards and mice to review than anything else, but the market conditions meant they just weren’t selling that well, and most brands backed off. However, it looks like more are coming again, and NZXT is one of the first to send out new samples for peripherals in 2025.
The NZXT Function Elite MINITKL is a compact gaming keyboard that aims to deliver a premium typing and gaming experience without breaking the bank. NZXT has packed this keyboard with a host of enthusiast-grade features, including double-shot PBT keycaps, pre-lubed switches, and a gasket mount design, all housed in a sturdy aluminium case.
But the real star of the show is NZXT’s own magnetic switches, boasting adjustable actuation points, an 8K polling rate, and a unique dual-rail structure for enhanced speed and precision. Long story short, it’s ticking all the right boxes for an enthusiast gaming keyboard!
This combination of features should ensure that the Function Elite is a keyboard that not only feels great to type on but should also sound great too; an important factor for mechanical keyboards. Of course, for gamers, you’ll certainly find a lot to love about the lightning-fast response times, making it ideal for competitive play.

- Gasket Mount Design: Rubber gaskets between the frame and case provide a cushioned, satisfying feel.
- Screw-in Stabilisers: Custom stabilisers on larger keys eliminate wobble for consistent presses.

- Heavy-Duty Aluminium Case: A thick CNC aluminium top case ensures long-lasting strength, stability, and style.
NZXT Magnetic Switches

The new switches are certainly a key talking point, and while 40-point adjustable actuation sounds a little excessive, having that level of customisation can only be a good thing. Likely most gamers will simply set it as short as they can. While if you’re a touch typer like I am you may want it a bit lower so you don’t type random letters when resting your fingertips on the keys.
- 40-Point Adjustable Actuation: Customise per-key sensitivity from a delicate touch to a deliberate press.
- Keys actuate using electromagnetic sensors for enhanced speed and precision.
- Dual-Rail Structure: Offers improved stability, a smoother feel, and a 150-million keypress lifetime.
- Rapid Trigger: Keys can reset with the slightest lift of the finger for ultra-fast repeated presses.
- Light & Linear Feel: 30g initial force, up to 4mm range.
- 8K Polling Rate: Lightning-fast keypress registration with virtually zero latency.
