NZXT H500i Tempered Glass RGB Mid-Tower Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Exterior
The H500i is certainly a gorgeous looking chassis. Of course, I bound to think that since it looks so much like the H400i and H700i which we already love. There are some changes though, such as the design of the left side panel. The glass starts higher up the side panel, resting in a lip above the PSU shroud. It’s held with push pegs at the top while a single thumb screw locks it in place from the rear.
The front panel has the same flat design as its counterparts. However, there’s no ventilation on the left side anymore.
Instead, there’s a single larger ventilated section on the right side panel now. This section provides quite a lot of airflow, and don’t worry, it has its own dust filter on the interior too to keep things clean.
Around the Back
Around the back, you’ll find a single 120mm fan mount, with one of their lovely AER fans pre-installed. There are seven expansion slots, offering support for up to ATX motherboards. However, there are also two verticle mounts that could be used with a virtual GPU riser cable (sold separately).
Up top, there’s a 120mm fan pre-installed, with room to mount a 140mm. Personally, I would rather they kept this section blank as the 120mm rear exhaust should be sufficient. However, the way they’ve perforated the panel looks pretty cool and I’m sure some systems may have a need for it.
On the base, you’ll find a slide out dust filter for the PSU air intake; important since the PSU is under the shroud. Towards the front, elongated screw mounts to allow movement of the HDD bays forward and backwards. Of course, you can also remove the bays completely should you need the space.
