NZXT HALE90 750W Power Supply Unit Review

Judging by the product itself and the price point, it is clear that this is aimed at those who want a high quality PSU with a unique appearance which should be a big hit with fans of NZXT’s own white Phantom case or Corsair’s 650T White Edition. Performance wise, the HALE90 offered no grumbles and is as solid as they some. I was surprised with how well NZXT has done with the performance of their first PSU which beats many of the enthusiast-grade PSUs I’ve tested, including the Corsair’s HX1050, in terms of voltage stability and, quite often, noise.
The sheer performance of this PSU has put NZXT directly into one of the top tier of PSU manufacturers along with the likes of Enermax and Corsair. This unit is representative of NZXT’s shift from the budget market into the high end/enthusiast market. I am really looking forward to NZXT’s next addition to their power supply line if this is the bar that NZXT are setting themselves and hopefully intend to raise.
As for features, this unit really impressed me, not by coming up with brand new ideas, but for refining what we already know and love to make an all-round more useful and better designed product. I especially liked the black and white colour scheme, ribbon-style modular cables and super high efficiency.
The HALE90 is also priced well, it falls in the higher price bracket for 750W units when compared to the likes of the Corsair AX750 or Enermax Naxn 750W but it is the cheapest unit to feature 80+ Gold and to offer such fantastic performance.
Overall, the HALE90 is a high-performance, unique and feature rich power supply that is intelligently priced and would be my first choice for a 750W unit for an enthusiast system. Also, if you happen to don a white, windowed case such as the 650T White Edition or have a black case with white fans such as Fractal Design’s cases, then this PSU should be at the top of your list because it looks absolutely fantastic!
