NZXT Launches The Aer RGB Premium Digital PWM Fans

The NZXT Hue+ has rapidly become the device of choice for users wanting to inject a more flamboyant colour scheme through customisable RGB lighting. While there have been numerous LED strips over the years, none of them provides the same functionality as NZXT’s wonder box. Of course, many companies including Thermaltake and Corsair recently moved into RGB fans which greatly enhance a build’s aesthetic appeal.

As you might expect, NZXT has unveiled their own RGB fans to keep up with the current trend. The NZXT Aer is available in either 120mm or 140mm frames and can be paired with a fan controller. The fans feature PWM control and support a wide range of transitional effects including breathing, fading marquee,covering marquee, pulse, spectrum wave, alternating, candle light and wings. It’s even possible to change the lighting based on temperature, audio or fan RPM values. Additionally, the end-user is able to create a custom breathing wave or employ a single colour.

On a more technical note, the fans utilise a Fluid Dynamic Bearing with a lifetime of 60,000 hours. On the 120mm version, the airflow rating is 20-61.4 CFM while the noise levels range between 22-31dBA. Also, the air pressure is 0.15 – 1.366mm H20. The Aer RGB140 has an airflow of 23.9-71.6 CFM and air pressure values of 0.20-1.81 H20. This is achieved with a noise output of 22-33dBA. Please note, both products have an operational speed between 500-1500RPM and come with a 2-year warranty. Johnny Hou, NZXT’s founder and CEO described the new RGB fans and said:

Choose from countless illumination options

Aer RGB delivers balanced light dispersion through 8 LEDs and specifically engineered light guides. In addition to all the original lighting options from HUE+, including a dozen presets (Fading, Breathing, Spectrum Wave, Pulse etc.) and a fully controlled “custom” mode, Aer RGB introduces exclusive modes such as the RPM and Wings modes. By combining LED strips and Aer RGB thanks to HUE+, aesthetics-focused users can enjoy additional options to further polish the looks of their rig.

Easy to install, control & operate

Users can control up to 5 Aer RGB fans per HUE+ lighting channel (up to a maximum of 10 fans). Aer RGB fans can be linked together and assigned to groups to further customise the setup. Illumination options are easily adjusted using CAM, our free PC monitoring software.

Improved airflow and silent operation

Aer RGB fan blades are designed for optimal airflow while keeping noise to a minimum with a winglet-tip design. Fluid dynamic bearings provide long-lasting silent performance.
