NZXT Phantom 630 Ultra Tower Chassis Review

Starting at the left side of the chassis its immediately apparent that the 630 bares a striking resemblance to the Phantom 820. The side window is a little smaller as too is the fan mount / ventilation area but either way it still looks fantastic. The custom shaped side window gives a great view of the chassis interior and the 200mm fan mount comes with a high quality NZXT fan pre-installed, this fan will give any multi-GPU system that much needed extra airflow. The side panel its self is held in place with two quick release thumb screws for easy access.

The front of the chassis features the typical Phantom front panel door, below which you’ll find another high quality 200mm fan pre-installed. A good mixture of strong cut angles and slow curves give the chassis front panel a bold futuristic appearance, not to everyones taste but personally I think it looks awesome.

Just above the front panel is the main I/O section, on the left you will find 2x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, headset and microphone sockets. The right side of the panel features the power and reset buttons as well as a very handy built in fan controller that comes complete with a speed toggle and LED indicators.

Hiding behind that funky front panel are four 5.25″ drive bays, each fitted with covers that can be easily removed from the front thanks to their clever locking system. Above the drive bays is a very handy built in SD card reader.

The bottom of the front panel features an easy access, long length dust filter that can be removed and re-installed from the front without lifting your chassis. This should keep maintainance times to a minimum and help keep your system in good health.

The right side of the chassis is fairly straight forward, a plain side panel is held in place with another pair of quick release thumb screws.

Along the top we can see that the central line on the front panel continues up and over to the back of the chassis, this gives the top panel sloped sides and provides a little extra headroom for any top mounted radiators and fans, as well as a little extra style. If you look closesly you can see yet another 200mm fan installed in the top-rear section of the chassis, its already clear that cooling shouldn’t be an issue with this chassis.

Around the back of the chassis you can see that the top panel is raised to make way for extra cooling components, below that we have a 140mm rear exhaust fan. Moving down from there we have 9 re-usable, ventilated expansion slot covers and some further ventilation to the right of those. Finally we have a bottom PSU mounting area and another slide out dust filter.

The underside of the chassis features front to back ventilation, this should provide plenty of airflow to a PSU and any base mounted cooling fan and/or radiators, helped along by the high ground clearance provided by those large feet which should allow plenty of air to flow under the chassis. The dust filters will also help ensure that your system stays clean and easy to maintain.

The bottom fan and radiator mounts are pre-drilled to support a wide number of mounting configurations, making for maximum compatibility with a wide range of radiator and fan configurations.
