NZXT Phantom 630 Ultra Tower Chassis Review

NZXT have been on something of a winning streak with their chassis design for a while now and while not everyone loves their style choices, this is something that can be said about any chassis on the market. However its hard to deny that NZXT have struck a strong balance of functionality and performance in their range of Phantom chassis designs. I personally think it looks fantastic and I especially love the fact that every bit of it is packed with little hidden touches, flawless paintwork and a complete lack of rough edges on the interior, build quality is easily on par with their functional design.

The extensive cable routing holes, cut-outs, removable panels, tie down points and more should be a dream come true for those wanting to build a heavily customised, high performance system, but it will also provide less experienced builders the chance to make their system look fantastic with minimum effort. The Phantom range essentially provides all the features and mounts you need for a custom rig, but at the same time its styled like a chassis that has already been customised extensively.

NZXT really set a new standard with the 820 chassis and I was fully expecting the 630 to be a cheaper, cut down and far less impressive edition of their ultimate chassis. Yet while the 630 is in fact a full £40.00 cheaper (at time of writing) here in the UK it is by no means a lesser chassis. Sure it doesn’t have Hue Lighting or multi-channel fan controller, not to mention its a little smaller, it doesn’t feel, look or perform like an any less capable chassis that the 820. I can’t however brush over the fact that this is still a very expensive product, regardless of the fact that its cheaper than the 820, its still a big investment. Fortunate then that it still provides great value for money, as I said before, the finish on the chassis is faultless and build quality is certainly some of the best available on the market today and quite frankly you can’t really put a price on quality.

I can’t wait to see what the creative modding community do with this chassis over the next few months, or to see just how far people can push the versatility of its design, its a rock solid product and another impressive feat for NZXT which is why I am happy to award it with our eTeknix Editors Choice Award.
