The NZXT Signal HD60 Capture Card is available from today, and you should expect to see it for around $149.99. That’s certainly an appealing price too, as the Elgato HD60 S is still $180 and the Razer Ripsaw HD is around $160. Admittedly, I think Elgato can get away with the higher price, as they have a more established ecosystem of compatible products, but for a new entry to the market, NZXT is hitting the market in terms of features and price, and that’s certainly going to add to its appeal.
NZXT may be effectively the last big brand to bring one of these devices to the gaming market, but that is actually to their advantage. While it may not be an original idea, their new capture cards can leverage some features and technologies that aren’t present in some of their similarly priced rivals. One of the biggest is that it supports 4K60 pass-through, making it great for PC gamers and use on the latest generation of consoles. You no longer have to match your gaming resolution to the recording resolution, and that really just gives you the best of both worlds.
The low latency is great too, as any gamer knows, any kind of delay is going to suck pretty bad, so top marks for NZXT on that point. The HDMI pass-through just works as you would expect really, and the plug-and-play nature meant that my monitor or TV never really had any compatibility issues with regards to output resolutions, refresh rates, etc.
When it comes to set-up, it really is pretty straightforward though. The HDMI cables are obviously easy enough to figure out, and then it’s just a USB cable to your computer. Obviously, USB 3 port is recommended, slower speed ports could lead to some performance issues. However, once connected, my computer detected the capture device and it’s then available in just about any popular recording software or editor.
Well, if you’re looking to capture or stream gaming content at Full HD and 60 FPS, then yes, this is absolutely the product for you! It’s got its rivals beaten on price, and it’s got a great set of features that make it very simple to set up and easy to use. Being able to pass through a 4K to my TV or PC gaming monitor is nice too, and it means I don’t have to compromise your gaming experience, but still allows you to catch great quality gaming footage.
