NZXT, one of the many computer case manufacturers, has recently unveiled a new addition in their Tempest series: the Tempest 210.
NZXT’s Tempest series has always been about a more efficient airflow, and from what we can see, this has what we get, and then some.
The front is entirely covered with black mesh, improved for cooling and optimal airflow, and to help that, you can install up to eight fans, two in the front, two on the top, one in the back, one on the bottom, and two on the side with the ability to change the position of the fans, how is that for airflow?
Starting at the front, we can see three tool-less designed 5.25” bay which can also house a 3.5”. The front I/O port is composed of the usual audio output and microphone input, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0, which is a good feature, although two would have been welcome, but the price would have risen as well. On the top, you can find a small place for placing all your USBs or other accessories.
Inside, we can find the ODD bays we talked about earlier, but also a total of eight tool-less HDD bays, the PSU is on the bottom and the Tempest 201 can house up to a standard ATX motherboard. With seven expansion slots on the back, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding place for your PCI cards, although this design uses screws, which not too many people appreciate, but the advantage is that the weight of a heavy video card is more easily sustained on a sturdy metal expansion slot, rather than a weak plastic tool-less design (that doesn’t always work with all GPUs).
The back of the motherboard has been arranged for an easy cable routing and management, which will further improve the airflow by arranging the mass of cables correctly instead of having it hanging in the airflow’s way. Furthermore, the top fan mounts accept both 120mm and 140mm, making it compatible with most of today’s AIO liquid cooling solutions. As you can see, two of the 120mm fans are included as well, which forces you to buy additional fans to access the Tempest’s full potential.
The NZXT Tempest 210 is priced at $54.99, which is rather competitive considering what we get.
