Obsidian Debuts ‘The Outer Worlds’ Sci-Fi RPG via Trailer

Fallout in Space Meets Borderlands?
From Obsidian Entertainment, the original creators of Fallout series, comes ‘The Outer Worlds’. It even looks and almost feels like a Fallout game. Except with a Sci-Fi heavy space/alien planet setting. Even the art style is very reminiscent of the Fallout series, except without using a very dated Creation engine. Unlike where Bethesda Studios has taken Fallout however, Obsidian is keeping The Outer Worlds as a single-player RPG. Also deviating from Obsidian’s usual isometric games lately, The Outer Worlds is going to be a first-person RPG.
With the announcement comes a 2-minute trailer to give fans a taste of what to expect. Aside from having similar elements to Fallout, the game seems take inspiration from ‘Futurama’ and ‘Borderlands‘ as well. Complete with evil corporations that you have to go up against.
What is The Outer Worlds About?
In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon. Which is the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy. Only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
