OCZ Brought Their Renamed and New SSDs to Computex 2016

OCZ was also present at Computex and we naturally stopped by their booth to see what they got on display. Even though they have been acquired by Toshiba and integrated into the corporation, they still operate as their own entity with their own drives.

Where many companies have a lot more drives on display, OCZ only has three. Once they create a better drive, the old ones get phased out so the customers only get the best that OCZ has to offer. I kinda like that concept and it isn’t like there isn’t a drive option for everyone.

The OCZ TR150 and OCZ VT180 were previously known as the Trion150 and the Vector180 and they’re still the same great drives that we both reviewed here at eTeknix. The TR150 is the perfect HDD replacement with large capacities and a low price while the VT180 is aimed at the enthusiast and gamer that need an even better performance.

However, the highlight at the OCZ booth is the brand new RD400 NVMe SSD. You might already have seen our review of the drive a couple of days ago and there is no doubt that this is an amazing drive that blows SATA3 drives away. The RD series is the one that previously was known as RevoDrive, just in case anyone wonders.

The RD400 is available as both an M.2 module and in combination with the PCIe adapter card.

And yes, the performance of the RD400 really speaks for itself. Low access times, high throughput and plenty of IOPS. And it isn’t even that expensive all things considered. A perfect drive for those who want just the best of the best. Have you made the jump to NVMe yet? I can tell from personal experience that it’s awesome and definitely worth it.

Stay tuned for more storage news directly from Computex 2016 as we make our way through the halls for you.
