HD Tach is another very simple application to use, designed for all levels of users, the simple two test mode interface, quick and long, allows users to quickly ascertain how well their disk is performing. The results windows gives a clear indication on how the drive performs along its entire capacity and below its burst rate and CPU usage.

SSD caching is all about making the hot data (regularly accessed) available from the SSD portion of the drive and the cold data left on the hard drive. The best way to demonstrate this is to show the increase in burst speed and read speed across the drive. On our first boot straight after installing Dataplex, there was a marked improvement in performance over the HDD on its own and the result we got is shown in the top chart. After rebooting the system a number of times, Windows itself gets more and more cached and the Hybrid drive gets more towards its optimum performance level.

Comparing to the lower chart which is after our fifth reboot, the difference is clear with a higher burst and sequential read speed across the drive. This is the same principle for commonly used programs such as web browsers, games and the likes of photo editing software.
