HD Tach is another very simple application to use, designed for all levels of users, the simple two test mode interface, quick and long, allows users to quickly ascertain how well their disk is performing. The results windows gives a clear indication on how the drive performs along its entire capacity and below its burst rate and CPU usage.

With the cache enabled, the first boot shows an average sequential read speed across the volume of 162.1MB/s and after a series of cold boots to ensure the cache has taken hold of what it needs to, we can see that the sequential read speeds are improved with an average read of 201.9MB/s and a burst speed of 307.5MB/s. As with any cache, as time goes on, these figures will rise a little more and steady out. Windows boot times were greatly improved with around 15 second taken off the boot time to login after the third cached cold boot.
