OCZ Vertex 3.20 240GB SSD Review

In spite of the update to the internals of the Vertex 3, the outside sees only one minor change to its appearance with the .20 naming added to the end of the Vertex 3 to help differentiate this drive from the older models.
Diving inside the drive to have a closer look at what lies within, the top half of the PCB houses the first eight out of sixteen MLC NAND IC’s that make up the 240GB capacity on this particular board. Tucked alongside the NAND is the SandForce controller and we note that like before there is no cache to accompany the controller.
Looking at the memory a little closer, the sixteen modules have the part number 29F16B08CCMF3, the 20nm modules ache have a capacity of 16GB and total 256GB, but due to over-provisioning we see a listed drive capacity of 240GB.
On the upper edge, we see no change to the particular controller that OCZ opt for on the Vertex 3 with the legendary SandForce SF-2281 in place.
On the underside of the PCB there are a further eight NAND making up the rest of the drives storage capacity.
