OCZ Vertex2 60GB SATAII Solid State Drive

An Even Closer Look
Taking the drive apart gives us a view that any typical SSD will feature, but some users who may be out of the loop will be unaware as to what makes an SSD tick.

The PCB features eight 8GB MLC NAND modules as opposed to the older revision of this drive using sixteen 4GB modules. We are also aware of another revision using eight 8GB modules but using a different configuration of using both sides of the PCB.

SandForce is in action with this drive and features the SF-1222TA3-SBH controller which we are seeing a lot more manufacturer’s turning to now due to its support for newer memory types which are cheaper to produce, hence we are now seeing SSDs becoming more affordable for consumers. The SandForce SF-1222TA3-SBH also takes great consideration with Multi-Level Cell (MLC) based drives, much like this one.
