Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. When it first came out in 1997, the game received mostly positive reviews and was described as “a tight 2D platformer that’s packed with great innovative touches and some great character design”, which comes as no surprise considering the fact that it came with an awesome, original story and with some of the greatest animations ever seen at the time. Those of you who are looking for a bit of gaming nostalgia should probably head over to Steam right away, as Oddworld Inhabitants is currently offering Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee for free until September 24th (10am Pacific). The game has won numerous awards since it was launched, including the “E3 Showstopper 1997” award from GamePro and the “Best Director” award at the World Animation Festival in 1997.
Just in case you’re not familiar with the game, you should know that you will be taking on the role of Abe, a floor-waxer for RuptureFarms who starts off on a strange and captivating adventure after he overhears his boss’s plans to turn him and his brethren into Tasty Treats. I’ll let you discover the rest of the story yourself.
