Official PC Requirements Revealed For World War Z

World War Z

Many would argue (I think with more than a little success) that despite the boom in the ‘zombie survival’ genre 5 years ago, very little was produced of any worthy note. I mean, honestly, I could probably count on both hands the number of games released in this genre that I would say was ‘worth it’. If not in terms of playing then at least in terms of actually spending money!

World War Z, however, is certainly on my radar at the moment. From what we’ve seen so far, the game looks pretty amazing. Could this finally be the Zombie game we’ve been waiting for? It’s looking more likely than not.

Well, the good news is that for you PC owners, we have our official specifications and, in 2018 terms, they’re certainly more than a little friendly!

Specifications

Minimum Requirements

CPU – i5-750/i3-530/Phenon II X4-810
RAM – 8GB
OS – Windows 7 or Later
Video Card – AMD R7 240/Nvidia GT 730 2GB/Intel HD530
Storage – 20GB

Recommended Requirements

CPU – i7-3970 @ 3.5GHz
RAM – 16GB
OS – Windows 10 64-bit (DX11)
Video Card – AMD R9 280/Nvidia GTX 960
Storage – 20GB

What Do We Think?

Seeing such basic Intel and AMD processors in the minimum requirements is certainly impressive. In all honesty, the recommendations are well below our expectations. An i7-3970 is, in AMD terms, essentially an 8350. The latter is well in excess of 6 years old now. For that to still be in recommended (as well as very benign graphics cards) is certainly impressive.

We should note that the specifications have not clarified on what resolution this is being run. As such, while it is probably 1080p, don’t be surprised if this might actually be 720p. They just seem a bit too low to take at a glance.

World War Z is set to release for the PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019. At present, no exact date has been stated. With the release of the PC requirements though, it is perhaps looking to be sooner rather than later.
