Official System Requirements For Thief Released
Thief is already one of the most anticipated titles of 2014, given that the games earlier incarnations helped push the world of gaming to new heights, the likes of which inspired generations of games such as Elder Scrolls, Fallout and well… just about any other first person RPG since.
The new game is set to be unleashed on the world at the end of February for consoles and of course PC. The dev team have released the official specifications this week so that all us lovely PC gamers can make sure we are ready to rock and roll from day one. Minimum requirements are rather forgiving overall, while the recommended specs do offer a little more demand for performance, they’re still not so high to hold back your average gaming rig front the last two years.
Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Windows Vista with platform update
- CPU: High-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU
- RAM: 4 GB
- Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 4800 series / Nvidia GTS 250
- DirectX: DirectX 10
- HDD/SSD: 20 GB
Recommended Specs:
- OS: Windows 7 or 8
- CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU
- RAM: 4+ GB
- Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
- DirectX: DirectX 11
- HDD/SSD: 20 GB
Personally, I cannot wait to get my hands on this game, I’ve had it pre-ordered for what seems like forever!
Thank you PCG for providing us with this information.

My PC scrapes the minimum system requirements 🙁
Damn you priorities for stopping me from getting my new PC!
Damn, my system is fine, apart from the GPU, my 580 is a bit dated :/ Come on 880
If the graphics aren’t brutally better than stuff like Crysis 3 and BF4, then the requirements must be a result of HORRIBLE coding flaws.
Having a FX 8000 on “Recommended” means the use of CPU vs. GPU is horribly managed (wonder if it does use 8cores, or just 4 like most games too). The relatively lower GPU required makes the flawed coding even more evident.
I have the system for it, but I sure won’t buy this failure to avoid validating the crappy coding trend that’s been going on.
The requirements for BF4 is similar, but i run it fine on high settings@1080p with my rig. i5-4670k, 650Ti, 12gb 1333mhz ram).
