OnLive cloud based gaming service launched in UK

Yesterday saw the launch on the cloud based gaming service OnLive in the UK and with an opening offer of your first game for just £1 a value of up to £39.99, but if you are a BT customer then you can get their PlayPack subscription free for the first 3 months which allows unlimited access to over 100+ games (games list can be seen here) the pack is usually priced at a very reasonable £6.99 per month.
The service can be accessed by pretty much any internet capable machine and does not require a high end system as the game stored within the cloud.
OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman, said: “OnLive will utterly transform gaming in the UK. No discs, big downloads or specialised hardware are needed. OnLive gives you the latest games instantly, anytime, anywhere on HDTV, PC, Mac, as well as soon on iPad and Android tablets. It makes high performance gaming as accessible as streaming video, with unique social features, such as watching thousands of people play games live with voice chat and Facebook integration.
The launch also see’s the availability of the OnLive MicroConsole for £69.99 here an adapter for your TV which comes bundled with a HDMI lead, console and control pad, the device connects via ethernet or optional Wi-Fi bridge.
Worth noting that if you sign up to the PlayPack for £6.99 per month you get 30% off purchases and if you buy the pre-order of Saints Row: The Third before the 28/9/11 you get the console free (well for the price of P&P £6), so for just £37.48 you get access to the PlayPack 100+ games, Saints Row: The Third and the console (usual price £117.97).
