The gaming industry loves revivals and that even includes hardware judging by the success of the Nintendo mini. Now, the massive original Microsoft Xbox controller nicknamed “The Duke” is set to return as well. While many consider it one of the worst controller designs in history, some Xbox fans with large hands swear by its design. Microsoft has given their blessing for its revival, and players will soon be able to hook one up to an Xbox one.
While the revival will include the familiar size of “The Duke”, the new version is not going to be a 1-to-1 copy. It retains the bottom placement and form factor. However, there is no memory card slot and in its place is a USB cable. There are also two new tiny bumper buttons at the top, which would make the controller compatible with recent games. The center round jewel button will now have an OLED screen underneath. It even plays back an animated Xbox logo startup video when pressed.
The new controller is on schedule for a March release date, with a £50 price tag. Since it has a USB connector, it is compatible with Xbox One as well as PC.
