Original Metal Gear Solid Now Runs On Current PCs
Ashley Allen / 7 years ago
Three years after the classic sneak ‘em up debuted on PlayStation, Hideo Kojima’s lauded Metal Gear Solid got a PC port in 2000. Sadly, the PC release – the Integral edition, previously only available for PlayStation in Japan – doesn’t run on modern computers. There is no GOG or Steam release to speak of. A dedicated modder and MGS fan, though, created a fix to bring Solid Snake’s Shadow Moses mission on PC to life again. Yep, Metal Gear Solid will now run at 1080p with your current OS and GPU, plus controller support.

We have Redditor oxide-NL to thank for the Metal Gear Solid Integral PC patch. They said:
“Since Metal Gear Solid 1 was unplayable on modern machines, I felt compelled to keep this oldie alive and well, since it has long been abandoned nor available anymore on the market. I wanted to preserve a piece of gaming history. It would be a shame if it disappeared completely!”
