Origin’s Great Game Guarantee Offers Full Refunds For “Bad Games”

Origin, EA’s digital distribution service and rival to Valve’s Steam service, has just announced a new program designed to increased customer satisfaction. The new program is called “Great Game Guarantee” and it allows users to ask for refunds for any games that they have bought through EA’s Origin service.
There are time restrictions on Origin’s Great Game Guarantee to prevent abuse. You must submit a claim within 24 hours of the game first being launched on your PC or within 7 days after the purchase is made. If the game was a pre-order then it must be made within the first week after its release (because obviously you will have made the payment for it potentially up to two months before meaning the “within 7 days of making a purchase” would be violated).
The announcement by Origin reads:
“Requesting a refund is quick and easy. Just visit your order history and click the ‘request a refund’ link next to your recent purchase, answer a few quick questions, and we’ll take it from there.”
At the time of writing the new program is live in 20 countries and will be extended to the whole world within a few weeks.
