The Ouya gaming console has been taking the gaming world by storm recently and we have found out more information on what this console will actually look like. We already know it is based of the Nvidia Tegra 3 chip, which features Nvidia graphics and an ARM quad core CPU.
The whole system should fit into a really compact space, given that Tegra 3 can be crammed into a Google Nexus 7 tablet. The designer of the Ouya console, Yves Béhar, has stated that the whole console would be similar in size to a Rubik’s cube.
“Our console is quite small, around the size of a Rubik’s cube, and so it will easily fit anywhere in a room, or be easy to throw in a backpack,”
The aesthetics of the Ouya console loosely resemble that of the Nintendo Game Cube, with the small box shape. The main focus of the overall Ouya console design is the controllers, the console is meant to be discreet and portable – as the Rubik’s cube size would suggest.
As mentioned in previous articles other specifications include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of flash storage, a custom Android operating system and free to play games.
As this article is written the Ouya console has 42,500 backers and $5,400,000 of funding on Kickstarter with 15 days to go.
