Over 20,000 Russian and Belarusian Steam Accounts Banned For Playing Helldivers 2

Following Sony’s mishandling of Helldivers 2, many people in countries without access to the PlayStation Network cannot play games like Helldivers 2 or other PlayStation ports. This has led many in these regions to resort to workarounds like VPNs, which violate Steam’s rules.
Steam Accounts Banned
The immense popularity of Helldivers 2 despite these restrictions has led to over 20,000 Steam account bans. Many of the banned accounts are from countries like Belarus and Russia, which are facing sanctions due to the war in Ukraine.
Steam’s crackdown isn’t limited to Russian and Belarusian accounts. Accounts suspected of activating ‘global’ keys purchased from reseller sites, as well as those with gifts from multiple regions, are also being blocked.
Most likely but not I’m not 100% certain this may have caused a huge decline in players that are playing Helldivers 2 as now the 24-hour peak sits at its lowest ever at just under 60,000.
Of course, if people want to play the game they will likely do the same thing again but this will just result in another wave of Steam account bans.
