Overclocker ‘der8auer’ Sets Impressive Ryzen 7 1800X Record

The well known German overclocker der8auer recently took the i7-7700K processor to new levels as he overclocked it to impressive speeds with all cores enabled. Now he’s back and he has done the same with the brand new AMD Ryzen 7 1800X chip. Okay, the Ryzen result doesn’t go nearly as high in the numbers as the 7700K did, but it is still a very impressive result.

Using liquid nitrogen, der8auer was able to crank the Ryzen 7 1800x all the way up to 5802.93 MHz from the 3.6 GHz base clock (4GHz Turbo clock). Just as with the Intel processor, der8auer left all cores and multithreading enabled which makes the result even better. Traditionally, extreme overclockers tend to disable all but one core and only use one memory module to gain the best results. While the numbers get higher with that method, it’s not a proper way to test it in my opinion.

The speed of 5802.93 MHz on the Ryzen 7 1800x was achieved with a 130.4MHz bus speed and a 44.5x multiplier while the vCore was set to 1.97. The record was set on the ROG Crosshair VI Hero motherboard with the flagship X370 chipset. And to put that speed in relation to its base clock, der8auer achieved a 61.19% overclock. Impressive.

The new record is around 300 MHz faster than the current competition, and that is most likely due to the delidded processor and direct die cooling. Now it also makes sense why the guy delidded the processor in an earlier video. But a fair warning, don’t delid your own Ryzen CPU unless you know what you’re doing. It is soldered, and even an experienced person like der8auer destroyed two chips before he succeeded.
