An Overclocker from SkatterBencher, a site known for overclocking attempts, has managed to overclock the Ryzen 7900 IGPU up to 3100MHz and gain up to 42% more performance.
The Ryzen 7000 series is the first of the primary desktop series of Ryzen chips to feature integrated graphics and up until now, there were no overclocking options for the iGPU. This overclocker at SkatterBencher managed to gain up to 42% more performance in various benchmarks using a system consisting of; AMD Ryzen 9 7900x, Gigabyte B650 Aorus Tachyon and G.Skill Tridents clocked at 6400MHz.
After gaining a GPU Frequency increase of about 40% the performance across almost every test shot up by at least 30% with Tomb raider getting the biggest jump at around a 42% increase though that is 12FPS to 17FPS so not exactly a playable gaming experience.
The 7000 series iGPU isn’t designed for gaming or graphically intensive tasks and is instead just allows for the CPU to be used for a display which is incredibly useful if you don’t have a Discrete GPU or your GPU has an issue. Overclocking the iGPU was just for a bit of fun and not for any actual gain though it is an impressive feat. If you are looking for a Ryzen CPU with decent integrated graphics for some low-end gaming the Ryzen G series APUs would be your way to go.
