Gaming Performance
Grand Theft Auto 5
In Grand Theft Auto V, the system’s graphics card outputs exceptional frame-rates and it’s even got the horsepower to maintain 60 frames-per-second when paired with a 4K monitor. Of course, there will be some hefty drops when using this resolution but it’s easily resolved by scaling back a few settings in the options menu.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Clearly, Rise of the Tomb Raider doesn’t benefit from the i7-6700K’s extra threads. As a result, the system’s combination of the i5-6600K and GTX 1080 is a match made in heaven.
Hitman
On the other hand, the system’s 1080p performance in Hitman was puzzling and it’s a fairly large deficit to the Zoostorm Inferno. Perhaps being a DirectX 12 title has something to do with the effect of CPU overheads. Although, in theory, the CPU should have a smaller performance hit when using the latest API. Thankfully, the performance during 1440p and 4K testing is more reflective of what I expected.
Far Cry Primal
There’s hardly anything to distinguish between a number GTX 1080 powered systems and they all perform superbly.
