Overwatch Suprasses 30 Million Registered Gamers

Blizzard’s Overwatch has celebrated a milestone recently, crossing over the 30 million registered player mark within just almost a year after its launch. It has also happened at a very fast pace considering they have celebrated the 25 million milestone just three months ago in January and celebrated the 20 million user milestone mark on October 2016. Before that, they reached 10 million users really quickly since the May launch by June. Not bad considering the game was born from the ashes of Blizzard’s ambitious massively multiplayer online role-playing game Titan that was cancelled in 2014.

Overwatch’s success can be attributed to a lot of things including great character design and of course, Blizzard’s unrelenting support of the game with continuous events that provide gamers with reason to stick around and play. For example, they are currently holding the Overwatch Uprising event launched on April 11 and will last until May 2. This is a lore-based seasonal event that includes a co-op brawl mode, new items, skins and more. Despite their success, Blizzard is not resting on their laurels but are actually working on six more maps, three of which will most likely be released sometime in the next several months.
