Overwatch Will Arrive on the PC in Spring 2016

It looks like PC gamers still have to wait quite a bit if they want to get their hands on Blizzard’s team-based first-person shooter Overwatch. The developers have recently announced that the game will arrive on PC in spring 2016, which is quite a few months from now. Just in case you’re not familiar with Overwatch, I’m going to tell you that it is a 6vs6 shooter that aims to compete against games such as Team Fortress 2. The game’s Beta testing phase is enjoying quite a bit of popularity, especially since the gameplay is quite fun and the heroes feature their own unique abilities and play styles. Right now, the game includes a total of 21 heroes, each with its own weapons, abilities and original looks.

Moreover, different maps have different objectives that require team play and coordination in order to be completed successfully. However, it’s also worth noting that players can swap heroes mid-game if they want to, and this should definitely add quite a bit of variety to every match. The CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, had a few words to say about Overwatch and its launch date:

“We’re building Overwatch to be the first-person shooter we’ve always wanted to play, with a vibrant world, awesome heroes, and an emphasis on tightly focused cooperative gameplay. We’re excited to welcome console and PC gamers to the fight for the future, and we can’t wait to see all the incredible things teams are able to accomplish on the battlefield this upcoming spring.”

The announcement was also accompanied by the reveal of the final three heroes on the roster and a new map named Hollywood.

“Genji, a cybernetic ninja, is an expert assassin capable of extraordinary feats of agility, including reflecting enemy attacks with his blade. D.Va is a former pro-gaming superstar who pilots an experimental military mech in defense of her home country. Mei travels the globe applying her scientific expertise to protect the natural world; in battle, her arsenal of climate-manipulating technology has the power to put the opposition on ice.”
