Price
If I had to guess the cost of this mouse, I would have expected it to be around £70, not only because of the brand name, but also because of the affiliation with a top eSports player. It’s marketed as a premium product with high-end performance, so I’m very happy to see that this mouse is in fact quite wallet-friendly. You can pick up the Argon from most major retailers for around £45. This puts it alongside similar spec and price mice such as the Shogun Ballista, Zowie FK1 and the SteelSeries Sensei[RAW].
Overview
I’m not a big eSports gamer and likely never will be, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy a good gaming session. For me, the Argon is less likely to help me win tournaments, but it does help me enjoy my favourite games and that’s no bad thing. The performance on this mouse is simply stunning, while not the best in the world, it’s certainly competitive enough to give anything else in this price range a run for its money. The sensor is smooth and accurate across the full DPI range, the lift-off height is low and the switches are responsive, that’s all the basics covered with zero issues.
The real worth of this mouse is to be found in the smaller details. The matte finish coating and the rubber grips on the side make it a pleasure to hold in your hand. The ergonomics are very comfortable and well suited to be left and right-handed players. The button layout may be rather basic, but for those who compete, the less buttons there are, the less likely you are to hit the wrong one. The addition of a lightweight chassis for those who like a fast and nimble mouse, with extra weights included to beef it up a little if you like a little more resistance, is also a very welcome bonus.
It may have been designed for pro gaming and rightly so, it does perform exceptionally well in games; if you miss a headshot with this mouse, it was your own fault, or perhaps your desk is lumpy. However, this is a pretty straight forward mouse, with a fairly standard button layout, so there are no issues with using this as your everyday desktop mouse at home or even in the office. In fact, the accurate sensor and comfortable ergonomics makes it a joy to use in Photoshop.
Pros
Cons
“Ozone and Ocelote aimed to deliver a great quality gaming mouse and that’s exactly what they’ve done. The Argon is perfectly suited to eSports, but even those who just want to enjoy a few games at home will find a lot to love about this mouse.”
