Asus has announced another PadFone handset, shortly after revealing the Padfone Mini and PadFone E devices, named PadFone Infinity Lite. It is said that the handset announced is not that different from the Infinity 2 which was announced in Q2 last year.
The difference, from what is reported, between the PadFone Infinity Lite and Infinity 2 stands in their processor. The PadFone Infinity 2 sports a Quad-Core 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, while the PadFone Infinity Lite comes with a slightly less capable processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7 GHz. Besides the CPU, the Infinity Lite is also said to come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box, however it is likely to be updated to the more recent Android 4.4 KitKat at a certain point.
As all Asus PadFones, the Infinity Lite consists of a smartphone and a tablet dock. It has a 5-inch screen display boasting a 1080 x 1920 pixels resultion (having the tablet dock sporting a 10.1-inch display with the same resolution), a 13 MP rear camera, 32 GB of storage space, 2 GB of Ram, and a 2,400 mAh battery (5,000 mAh for the tablet dock).
The PadFone Infinity Lite has been announced in Taiwan, having the release date set in March for a price tag of around $463 / £276 for the handset. The docking station is said to be sold separately at around $230 / £138. Asus did not say when, or if, the handset will be available internationally however.
