How Much Does It Cost?

As is often the case with writing reviews before the products are released, we don’t have retail links and 100% confirmed prices right now. The card is expected to be £224.99 in the UK. We will, of course, update this section as soon as physically possible.

Overview

Palit has kept things nice and simple with their new GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card. They decided to keep the price down and use a big, but not too expensive cooler design. This chipset isn’t overly demanding when it comes to power usage, so it doesn’t need a huge cooler to get good results. Plus since it’s practically unchanged since the last card, we already know how to get the best out of it. The only big change here is the new GDDR6 memory. The end result? A nice performance bump over the non-SUPER model.

Time to Upgrade

Sure, you won’t be swapping the old one out for the new one. However, if you’re building your first gaming PC, or upgrading a much older graphics card, the price to performance ratio is pretty hard to beat here. We’re seeing gaming performance here that can keep pace with the likes of the GTX 1070 Ti, and even the VEGA 56. If you’re still on a 9xx card or older, it’s a tempting time to upgrade.

Resolution & FPS Gains

At 1080p, you can easily max out many of the latest games and still get frame rates punching above 60 FPS easily enough. At high settings, we were hitting around 90 FPS, showing there’s a couple of years of life in this chipset, easily. However, even at 1440p, the frame rates were still hitting around 60 FPS in most games. Given that 1440p is quickly becoming the resolution of choice for many gamers, this card is right on the money. That being said, if you’re happy with around 30 FPS at 4K, this card will get the job done. 4K gaming on par with most consoles, if not better, for a very reasonable price.

Affordable

It runs cool, quiet and doesn’t break the bank. For anyone looking for a solid graphics card that can deliver great frame rates in the latest games, it’s really all you need. Sure, you may want an RTX 2080 Ti, but Nvidia and Zotac clearly know that it’s just too much out of the price range of many.
