Acoustic, Thermal and Power Testing

Acoustic Performance

Obviously, this card is completely silent at low load, and even while benchmarking it took a while for the card to get above 60c and kick in the fans. Even with the fans spinning, it’s pretty quiet, hitting just 44 dBa.

Thermal Performance

The purpose of a huge cooler is clear to see, with the card idling at just 29c with the zero RPM fan mode enabled. Pushing the card barely made it warm, hitting just 63c at full load. Keeping this card cool is really not an issue for Palit. Even with the ASUS Strix triple fan cooler, the VEGA 64 just couldn’t get close to this at 70c load.

Power Usage

The power consumption comes as no surprise, with it sitting between the GTX 1070 and the GTX 1080. Where it does have AMD thoroughly trashed is power though, with VEGA 64 being one of the most power hungry cards we’ve ever tested.
