Palworld Coming to Nintendo Switch 2? Pocketpair Discusses Possibility and Why It’s Not on Switch 1
Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, and Nintendo are not exactly on good terms, as the company from Kyoto has sued the creators of the viral survival game often referred to as “Pokémon with guns.” It’s not surprising that the game isn’t available on Nintendo Switch, but according to the communications director, the real reason is something else.
Why Palworld Isn’t on Nintendo Switch
John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, the communications director, stated that the team would love to release Palworld on the Nintendo Switch, but they can’t get it to work because the game is too large and the hybrid console can’t handle it. The game is quite massive, and the Switch just doesn’t have the power needed to run it smoothly.
Possibility of Palworld on Nintendo Switch 2
During a conversation with IGN at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Buckley shared his thoughts on the possibility of releasing Palworld on Nintendo Switch 2. He mentioned that the team is interested in the idea but doesn’t know if a port is actually feasible.
“We haven’t seen those specs yet,” he said. “Like everyone else, we’re waiting. I’m walking around GDC hoping someone will tell me them, but everyone I’ve spoken to says they haven’t even seen them. If it’s beefy enough, it’s 100% worth considering. We did a lot of optimization for Steam Deck, which we were really happy with. Still work to do, but we’re really happy with how it turned out. So we would like to get it on more handhelds if possible.”
