Two-in-one devices are great for many areas as they can work as both laptops and tablets. One area where they weren’t so good so far were the more rugged ones with dust, dirt, and water all around. That has changed with Panasonic’s introduction of their new CF-33 12-inch 2-in1 fully rugged laptop. This is the world’s first 3:2 aspect ratio, fully rugged 2-in-1 detachable laptop and I’m sure that many will welcome this device into their workspace.
The large display and aspect ratio makes the device great for a lot of jobs and its flexibility and performance is another reason that the Toughbook CF-33 detachable laptop will become popular. The fully rugged laptop features a detachable keyboard and larger display tablet that can be used in multiple modes to meet a variety of business needs. The target industries range from police and emergency services to government agencies. But the place I see it mostly, are maintenance and service technicians from telecommunication fields to garage workers.
The new CF-33 is the natural evolutions of Panasonic’s previous Toughbook CF-31 and CF-20. It is powered by latest generation Intel Core vPro processor which brings a great performance. It is available with Windows 10 Pro, but it’s also available with a Windows 7 Professional downgrade option. The processor is an Intel i5-7300U and comes with 8GB RAM (4GB and 16GB project options) and 256GB SSD (project option 128GB and 512GB).
It also has a rich set of business interfaces with additional customisable options to meet a worker’s needs. For the tablet, these include USB 3.0, HDMI, LAN, micro SD-XC and headset ports. On the keyboard dock, you’ll find another 2x USB 3.0, USB 2.0, LAN, Serial, HDMI, SD-XC and VGA ports. Additional tablet configuration options include second USB 2.0 port, Serial, Barcode Reader, Smartcard Reader, Contactless Smart Card Reader and Fingerprint Reader.
The 12″ 10-finger capacitive dual touch QHD screen (2160 x 1440 pixels) is suitable for workers that need to operate touch screens with gloves. The visibility should also be great outside with its 1200cd/m² brightness. In addition, the device includes an IP55 digitiser pen for workers that need the highest levels of writing, drawing or signature accuracy in the toughest of weather conditions.
The Toughbook CF-33 is also equipped with a 2MP webcam with stereo microphones and 8MP documentation rear camera. There’s also a 4G LTE option for connection to the office and workforce management systems, and the option for the latest U-Blox NEO-M8 GPS for precise navigation.
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-33 comes with a standard 3-year warranty and will be available in the second quarter of 2017. The Toughbook CF-33 2-in-1 detachable laptop model will be priced at € 3552 / £ 2627 + vat, and the Toughbook CF-33 Tablet only model will be priced at € 2992 / £ 2213 + vat.
