PAPAGO! P2 Pro Dashcam Review

Final Thoughts
Pricing
With a going rate currently at $192.99 from Amazon, the P2 Pro is a great deal. While there are plenty of cheaper alternatives in the market, the investment towards a great quality dash cam is important. Especially since accidents can happen at any moment and to be able to capture good quality footage to support yourself or even others is nothing to skimp on. One thing I do wish is that it included software similar to that of the RoadHawk HD camera. Since that unit is in a slightly higher price bracket it’s forgivable. All in all in terms of pricing I believe the P2 Pro is very reasonable considering the included feature set and quality of recording. While there are only a couple units on the market at the moment that utilize slightly better image sensors like the Lukas LK-7900 with its Sony Exmor cmos sensor, they are easily higher priced and not absolutely needed. To be completely honest, in my opinion having super crisp HD video isn’t always a necessity. The recording quality of the P2 Pro is excellent and more than enough for most needs.
Overview
The Papago! P2 Pro is a fantastic product. Being recently involved in a minor fender bender myself I can say that dash cams are very helpful now more than ever. When dealing with insurance companies along with having to prove your claim, having recorded footage of the incident can be the ammunition you need to win and the P2 Pro is a great weapon to have in your arsenal. The ability to extract various amounts of data from the unit is also a huge plus. In other words Papago! provides their customers many tools at their disposal that not only is capable of documenting incidents but can also help to prevent them with a variety of sensors. There was only one major flaw I experienced and that was with the Driver Fatigue. It was inconsistent but as I stated earlier, it’s something that Papago! can correct and improve upon with a software update.
I will admit that at times I would be a little annoyed by some of the audible warnings but unlike some competitor units the ability to turn those warnings on/off are available here. The usage of those alerts will definitely be based on user preference, and in most cases despite being annoying, they are annoying for a reason and it will be necessary for some to leave on.
Recording quality is quite excellent. 1080p recording is great, but I would love to see a dash cam that includes 720p @ 60fps. The major reasoning behind this is for a much more diverse control of recorded frames. Being able to playback footage in proper slow motion capture can help in viewing more details. But this is only a minor request of course.
Lane Detection, Front Collision Detection, Driver Fatigue, Headlight Activation Alert, and the ability to protect video files from being overwritten based on collision sensing etc. All of these included features combined make for a very complete package that makes the Papago! P2 Pro a worth while investment.
