The drive looks pretty much identical to the original Pyro drive. It comes in a 2.5″ form factor and is styled with a gun metal grey casing. In the middle, we’re informed of the model name and the capacity of the drive including the SATA III interface used.

Flipping the drive over, we find the same gun metal surface and another sticker, this time with the relevant serial, part and firmware numbers.

Just like with all 2.5″ form factor SSDs on the market, we find the relevant mounting holes spaced out evenly for easy installation into your desktop or notebook machine.

As with all SATA SSDs, there is a SATA data connector and SATA power connector in their relevant positions.

When we open the drive up, we find a pretty standard layout with the SandForce SF-2281 controller at the heart of it. Just next to this there are eight Micron ONFI memory chips which as stated earlier utilise synchronous technology.

On the other side of the PCB is another set of eight synchronous Micron ONFI memory chips.
