Final Thoughts
Price
At the time of writing, the Patriot Viper Black RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3000 MHz Kit is priced anywhere from £170-200. The RAM market is pretty volatile and competitive right now, so its certainly worth shopping around for a good deal. However, for the performance and features on offer, it’s still very competitive.
Overview
I’m a big fan of the Patriot memory range. They’ve got a long history of creating high-performance products, and that certainly holds true today. Their Viper range is more focused towards the gaming market, and the Viper Black certainly fits that bill. Not everyone is sold on the whole RGB thing, but the Viper kit has some of the most vivid and colourful lighting on the market today, making it very appealing to RGB enthusiasts.
Build Quality
Patriot has paid attention to the details with their latest memory kit. While the RGB lighting is obviously the main focus, it’s enhanced further by the matte black heat spreaders and the black PCB of the kit. When you’re running lighting, it looks so much better on a neutral background. That being said, the large heatspreaders do look great but are also practical. Their large size means they’ll easily shift heat, and helped in no small way when it came to overclocking to 3600 MHz
Performance
While not the fastest kit we’ve ever tested, it was certainly one of the more competitive 3000 MHz kits on our charts. The performance of the XMP profile is certainly impressive overall. We managed to overclock to 3600 MHz easily enough, and this saw a positive improvement in performance across the board. With the larger heat spreaders, I doubt anyone will have issues overclocking this kit. Of course, your results may vary dependant on the other factors of your system.
Should I Buy One?
With a competitive price, great performance, easy overclocking, and stunning aesthetics, the Patriot Viper RGB range is sure to make a great addition to your system. Highly recommended.
