Overview
Patriot has a really strong reputation in the memory market. For years, they’ve produced many excellent products for every part of the market. However, it’s their love for the enthusiast market that’s served them well, and it’s great to see them deliver one of the most competitive DDR4 products of the year.
Build Quality
The heatspreaders look and feel robust. They’re a little thicker and taller than most, which certainly boosts the aesthetics as the heat spreader shape and size looks stunning. However, all that metal makes for a great heat spreader, making overclocking a lot more reliable. The black PCB is a nice addition, however, it’s the quality of those RGB lights that really steals the show here.
Aesthetics
When it comes to RGB lighting, the market is pretty saturated with similar products. Thankfully, the Patriot Viper is a shining light in a sea of inferior products. The LEDs are dazzling and the colours are quite literally jaw-dropping. For those who want a set of memory that makes a statement, that’s exactly what you’ll find here. Of course, those light up Viper eyes helps a lot here too.
Performance
Right away, the Viper memory performance as good as its rivals in any of the benchmarks. If you left them at their XMP profile, you’ll be very happy with them. However, with the right hardware combination, they overclock great too. Hitting 4000 MHz is shockingly good, and delivered some fantastic performance gains overall.
