Final Thoughts
How Much Does it Cost?
The Patriot Viper V370 RGB Virtual 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset is currently just £40 on Amazon. I’ve seen it as high as £60 elsewhere, but I think it’s a good deal if you get it for £50 or less. It’s pretty affordable either way, and you get plenty of features for your money.
Overview
Is this headset perfect? Not really, I doubt there are many in the world that are perfect. However, Patriot has done a fantastic job of making this one of the most premium headsets in the sub £50 price bracket, and that’s not easy to do. Many headsets at this price look cheap, feel cheap, sound cheap, and have lots of glossy plastics. Of course, the Viper has none of these issues. The matte black finish with silver highlights and the RGB lighting give it a premium quality look and feel.
Performance
The sound quality is good, even if it does lack the accuracy of more expensive models. When it comes to movies, music and gaming, it’s powerful sound, and punchy bass put a smile on your face. I won’t be replacing my expensive headphones just yet, but for an affordable headset when you’re in a pinch, you’ll be surprised with the sound quality. Of course, the rumble features are pretty fun for gaming too, if a little high up on the gimmick scale.
Should I Buy One?
Patriot has gone from strength to strength with their gaming peripherals over the last few years. They’re putting out competitive products at multiple price points, packed full of features, and taking their competition head on. Their range of keyboards and mice are fantastic, and their headsets are shaping up nicely too. For a budget headset, the V370 is better than I expected, but I must admit I’m eager to see what they can do in the high-end market too, with something to rival the quality of their latest keyboards.
