Patriot Viper V770 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Performance

One thing I love about this keyboard is that you can do pretty much everything from the keyboard. It’s got buttons, shortcuts and dials right where you need them. However, if you want to dial in anything more specific with a GUI, the software can get you there, but it’s not essential for most users.

This is a premium grade and feature-packed mechanical gaming keyboard, and it lives up to every promise it makes. The Kailh switches are fantastic, and Cherry snobs may snub the rival brand, I’ll be damned if these aren’t as good to use. They’re fast, light, quiet, and just as responsive, making them fantastic for work and gaming.

Extended RGB

The keyboard packs RGB switches as you can see. However, it’s not just the switches, as the keyboards wrist rest also have RGB lighting built in!

It’s a great way to expand on the effects, and with the lights on the left and right side of the keyboard, you get some great ambient lighting.

The effects are plentiful on this keyboard, and I love the rain effect as it really shows how vivid the colours are and how well they contrast from key to key. You can play around with these for hours, or just set everything to your favourite shade of red or whatever and leave it, it’s up to you.

So Much Control

When it comes to great mechanical keyboards, there are many of them. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I found a bad or simply “OK” mechanical keyboard; they’re all pretty fantastic these days. That being said, the V770 feels as good as the best out there from Corsair, Logitech, Creative, and the seemingly countless others. That’s more than praise enough for any keyboard these days.

The added bonus comes from the unique features found on each brands keyboards, and the Viper has them by the bucket full.

Every aspect of this keyboard is tuned to work great for gaming. It puts all the customisation and control within easy reach. Of course, this means you can spend more time gaming, less time mucking about in the software.

Overall, the best Viper keyboard to date is exactly that, the best Viper keyboard!
