While a lot of the media is centred around the launch of the latest range of AMD Fusion (Llano) there are lots of other companies trying to impress. Patriot have recently added two new models to its high-end range which is has called the Wildfire series. These are available in 120 GB and 240 GB capacities and as the speeds suggest make use of the SandForce SF-2200 controlled. Which allows them them to reach sequential read and write speeds of 555MB/s and 520MB/s respectively.
The drives have also been quoted to deliver up to 85,000 4K random write IOPS and of course needs to be connected to a 6 GB/s SATA port to see these kind of results. Like OCZ, Patriot are bundling these drives with a 2.5″ to 3.5″ adaptor for those who are likely to use them in their desktops.
“The Patriot Wildfire is the fastest SSD drive we have ever released,” says William Lai, Patriot Memory’s Product Manager. “Although we are a bit late to market, we wanted to ensure that the technology was rock-solid. We are confident with the latest firmware, Patriot’s reputation for quality and performance stand second-to-none. “
While no pricing announcements have been made, with these kind of specs and capacities they aren’t going to come cheap!
