Patrón Tequila Creates a Unique Virtual Reality Experience

During this year’s Tequila & Mezcal Fest that took place on September 19 and 20 at London’s Old Spitalfields market, Patrón Tequila presented the “Art of Patrón Virtual Reality Experience.” Those who attended the event were able to enjoy a virtual tour of the brand’s distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, all with the help of Oculus Rift headsets. The technology used to create this stunning experience included drones equipped with seven GoPro cameras that were operated by a licensed drone pilot. In order to make sure that the experience would seem as natural and authentic as possible, the experts involved in the creation of the VR tour captured sound from all directions using binaural (3D) audio. The tour highlights the entire process of creating the renowned Tequila, and the best part is that the viewer gets to experience it all from the perspective of a bee.

The Global Chief Marketing Officer at Patrón Spirits, Lee Applbaum, has stated the following:

“While many brands are utilizing virtual reality largely for entertainment, Patrón is leveraging this incredible interactive technology as a unique educational tool, to give an immersive, behind-the-scenes look into the artisanal process of making our handcrafted tequila.”

Those of you who were not able to be a part of the actual tour can still head over to the Patrón Tequila website and enjoy a 360-degree web experience. I know that it’s not the same, but it will still give you a pretty good idea of what’s going on inside the company’s distillery.
