While many of you will be familiar with the ugly depute between Marty O’Donnell and Bungie, resulting in Marty leaving the Bungie team after many years loyal service and a history of some truly epic gaming musical scores. His work on Destiny so far has been incredible, with many early reviewers and gamers taking note of the stunning soundtrack that features within the game, but what a lot of people don’t know is that Marty had a little helping hand.
While is was kept largely quiet, Paul McCartney has been collaborating with Marty on the Destiny score, with the two working together on and off for the last for years.
Now the final fruit of this collaboration, as a final parting gift from the project, McCartney has written a “theme song” for the game, which he plans to release as a single after the game has launched. What content or lyrical aspects, singers or anything else this will contain remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds like it will be fairly unique.
The track is said to be fully-orchestrated, recorded at Abbey Road (where else) and the theme of the song is said to be “hope”. All ears towards September 9th when all will be revealed.
