Max Payne 3 – Shooter / Multi format
The perfect game for those who think strafing is for losers, if you’re not jumping through the air sideways in slow motion ALL THE TIME, you’re doing it wrong. A long overdue sequel to one of gaming’s finest shooters, which spawned the then original “bullet time” that has been copied by many great games since, but are they able to bring something fresh to the series?
Just don’t get me started on that god awful film they made based on the game. The 3rd part of this story should be fantastic, if it’s not, then I’m hopeful that the gameplay will thrill as much as the previous games in the series.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – FPS / Multi format
Assuming the developers are really going to stick to releasing this title on PC after concerns about piracy, it will make it the 4th instalment in this unforgiving tactical shooter, but can it keep up with the competition, especially with Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty dominating the shooting masses attention and no doubt another COD on the calendar later this year.
GRAW is a fantastic shooter combining realism, stealth, tactics and some epic battles, now there all kinds of cool futuristic weapons but envisioned realistically, so no BFG9000 I guess, but still going to be an exciting proposition.
Primal Carnage – Shooter / PC Exclusive
My final shooter of choice comes from Indie developer Lukewarm Media, who bring us a multiplayer shooter with a twist, it is basically Halo slammed into Jurassic Park, all fired up in Unreal Engine, so even the alpha videos on YouTube look stunning.
One team takes control of the humans, who are divided into classes such as Sniper, Catchers who can deploy nets and soldiers to name a few, but the others team play in 3rd person camera as the dinosaurs, who are of various size and deadliness. These include Tyrannosaurus, A Raptor, Pteranodon, Compsognathus and Dilophosaurus.
With guns, teeth, raptors and vehicles in the mix, you should be sure to keep both eyes firmly on the games release date, which is currently pegged for Q4 2012, there is even talk of a console release, but no solid info on that one yet.
It’s going to be an absolute belter.
