A Closer Look

They say first impressions are important, and thankfully for PCSpecialist the Ionico Luna Pro makes a very strong one. It’s a gorgeous-looking laptop, and while the white finish isn’t going to be to everyone’s taste, it’s certainly striking.

There’s a massive trackpad on the front of the chassis, and while there are no dedicated mouse buttons, the whole surface is clickable and has effective zones for the left and right click as you might expect. I love the white, but perhaps this isn’t a laptop for your average Cheeto eater.

There are some stickers on the chassis, showing us some of the key features, such as the Nahimic audio technology from SteelSeries.

We can also see a winning combination between the green team and the red team, with an Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card paired with the AMD Ryzen 7, and weirdly a Radeon Graphics sticker, as the CPU has the Radeon 780M iGPU, which will serve as a fantastic low-power GPU outside of gaming.

The keyboard looks great and feels as good as you might expect with a quality chicklet switch setup that feels both snappy and responsive thanks to the low profile action of the switches. It’s a full-size main part of the keyboard too, so it feels very natural and fits well with the 15″ display.

However, while there’s a full number pad included too it uses a squashed design with slimmer keys for the numbers, and there’s no space from the main keyboard to the number pad. So yeah, it’s a bit squished in, but it’s still better than not having a numberpad at all for daily productivity tasks.

The arrow keys are standard too, a lot of smaller laptops tend to squish these in too, but there’s plenty of room here for a proper configuration. There’s an ever-so-subtle recess for the keyboard too, with the front of the chassis providing a nice wrist rest for you while you work and gaming.

Up top, there’s a bit of ventilation, which also contains the front-facing speakers, and there are two control buttons, one for power, and a performance mode switch that toggles through the office, balanced and turbo modes, as well as a user profile that you can configure to your needs.

Finally, there’s a full row of F-keys, with all the main laptop-specific features accessible with the Fn-Shift key, but it’s all obvious stuff like display mirroring, volume control, flight mode, and what have you.

The display is 15.6″ and features a 240Hz refresh rate, however, this is the more premium option and there is a 120Hz panel option available too. It features a 2560×1600 16:10 aspect ratio, so clarity is going to be fantastic for this screen size, and the refresh rate will make things silky smooth too. As you can see, it’s got a pretty decent anti-glare coating too, it’s extremely bright in here, with the sun from the side window, my studio light above me, and the light behind me too, so it’s doing a fantastic job.

Up top, there’s a microphone and camera built into the screen.

And a handy camera cover so you can pretend your camera doesn’t work for your next Zoom call meeting.

So what about connectivity? Well, this isn’t Apple we’re dealing with here, so you have these amazing things called “ports”. Down the left side, there is a USB 3 Type-A, a Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

There are two more Type-A on the right side, as well as a built-in SD Card reader.

But we’re not done yet, as there’s a mini DisplayPort, HDMI, Type-C, RJ45 and power jack on the rear too, so this laptop is certainly well equipped for all your peripheral junkies.

There’s no shortage of ventilation either, with a large vent down the left side, the right side, and two more like this on the rear too.

There’s a little overhang at the back when the screen is up, but largely that seems to be there to accommodate both the rear ports and some larger cooling hardware.
