Acoustic Performance
During idle usage scenarios, the system is really quiet which contributes towards an enjoyable desktop experience. Whether you’re browsing the internet, watching videos or compiling large documents, the fan noise doesn’t appear to change and remains almost silent. Once stressed, the noise levels increase ever so slightly but it’s difficult to detect without using a sound meter. The load noise output is incredible and showcases why the Intel stock cooler can be a good option once paired with the appropriate hardware.
Power Consumption
The graphics card’s remarkably low TDP works alongside the efficient processor and allows the system to use hardly any power. The 130.2 watts load reading is superb and makes the system economically friendly.
Thermal Performance
Even though Intel’s stock heatsink has a poor reputation among enthusiasts, it’s more than capable of dealing with the i5 6400’s thermal loads. During the AIDA64 stress test, the CPU hit a maximum figure of 61C and hovered around the 58-59C range. This is well within the chip’s thermal tolerance and there’s additional headroom for hotter environments. The graphics card’s thermals are another highlight and remained under 60C.
